EYELASHES FLUTTER OPEN by Jerzey Fresh

Eyelashes flutter open, all warmth drained from the sheets
Flashbacks to last night, oh how our bodies did meet
Roll over now, to see your side of the bed is made
No imprint of your existence in the spot where you once laid

I know you weren't joking, you made good on your threat
"All or nothing" - in my ear those whispers crept
You chided "you can't have your cake and eat it too"
"You're not the dessert I'm after", those words must have bruised

On paper, you're perfect - everything I'm supposed to desire
No two ways about it though, you don't stoke my fire
If I could have one wish: contentment for the easy road
The road less travelled sparks my curiosity for the unknown

I want it the hard way, the type that's do or die
Can't give you my heart, it's held by another guy
Perfectly imperfect, or so to some he seems
Everything he is moves everything in me

He's difficult at times, even hard to please
My standards raise higher, eager to meet his needs
Each sunrise feels brand new, wondering what lies ahead
Just when I think I'm going right, he wills me left instead

Like clay in his hands, mold me how you choose
No risk, no reward, let's gamble - win or lose
So don't you fret angel, hold high your chin
The only fault you have, is that you aren't him
