SLUMPED AGAINST THE CURB by Jerzey Fresh

Slumped against the curb, pestering time to fly
Strike a match, inhale your cigarette - watching passersby
I only smoke your brand, in case you need a light
And coffee same as you, in case your cup runs dry

Leave no stone unturned, no scenario left to chance
I'd only play your music too, if you'd ask me to dance
Hum your favorite verse, slow waltz to a serenade
Smile into your eyes, remark at how far we'd came

Stare at my crooked smile, watch it play across my face
Cat and mouse locked together, in a sweet embrace
"You're so warm", as I shiver against the cold
A lie just to get closer, snuggled inside your hold

Let me belong to you, till the clock strikes midnight
My Cinderella scene, this glass slipper fits just right
If only for tonight, we will live like royalty
Rule this town together, you're king to my queen

An escape from existence, before my bubble breaks
In reality a flight risk's not worth the extra work she takes
Stuck in the mud, watching the spinning wheels
I ponder "This must be how he used to feel"

I know you'll never feel the way I wish you would
I can't give you things I know you wish I could
Not much else we could say, except time will tell
You're still my wish when I throw change in the well

I wish for you now, tomorrow, forever and a day
I wish for you in times of joy, even times of pain
I wish on every star, that lights the night sky
I'll wish with every breathe I have, until I day I die
