On the outside you don't fit the norm
You deviate in every shape and form
You wear leather jackets, your hair is long
In their eyes thats all wrong
You play bass guitar in a rock band
To them you're getting out of hand
Your t'shirt is ripped, your jeans too tight
Oh how they wish you'll get it right
To them you don't fit the bill
Your girlfriend's are hardly "run-of-the-mill"
That's the outside, they don't see within
And these people are your blood and kin
You're kind, warmhearted, that's your way
But this they don't see, or they won't say
They don't see the love and tenderness you hold
To these feelings they stand cold
They see the outside and look right through
They refuse to see the real you
Their close-minded attitude should be put aside
So they can see you on the inside
